Favourite bike to ride
That totally depends on the weather and what mood I’m in but all of those bikes have put a massive smile on my face at one time or another.
Favourite Location to ride
For Mountain Biking, Finale Ligure in Italy is such a fantastic place to be. The mountain biking is amazing, technical, fast, dusty trails and with great views and you finish on the beach with a great coffee in your hand.
For road riding, around Annecy, France has got to be some of the best cycling in the world. Beautiful lakes, warm almost all year and with a multitude of tour de france cols all within spitting distance.
The Cime de Bonnette is one of the most breathtaking cols/peaks that I have ever climbed. It’s like scaling a volcano!
Best memory of being on a bike
I’m pretty happy any time i’m on a bike, but some of the mountain biking in B.C. Canada is right up there (Especially Sun Peaks and Silver Star) and when a small group of us rode to La Thuile and Courmayer in Italy and back was pretty special.
Favourite bicycle product
Gotta be a the RockShox Reverb for a mountain bike. Flat out all the time. no need to stop or wait and you use it as much as gears. Proper game changer.
Favourite non bicycle product
Can I say powder skis? Just so much fun! big in length and width, with rockers and fancy cambers makes them fun everywhere.
Favourite item of sports clothing
Merino Wool Jerseys. Keeps you hot in the winter, under any sports layers (skiing, climbing, biking, cycling, running), Cool in the summer and you can wear them to the pub without looking like a spaz.
Favourite item of non sports clothing
I have some Howies jeans which have a slight stretch in them. Great for jumping on a bike after work and going somewhere.
Biggest achievement on a bike
Finishing my First ever sportive (marmotte) in 8 hours was a huge acheivement for me. it was 180km with almost 6000km of climbing in 1 day taking in 3 HC climbs. I hated climbing Alpe D’Huez at the end at the time, but looking back now it was a brilliant day.
